"Guangdong is the engine driving China's new productive forces," said Harvey Dzodin, former legal advisor in the Carter administration and a senior fellow at the Center for China and Globalization. Since his first visit in 1988, Dzodin has witnessed Guangdong's transformation, particularly noting Shenzhen's evolution from "a small fishing village" to "a great metropolis" and a "high-tech capital of 13 million people."
He praised the rapid progress, stating, "I'm really impressed with what I've seen in Guangdong Province. I'm so impressed with the progress that's been made in such a short period of time." Dzodin encouraged visitors to China to look beyond Beijing and Shanghai and explore the South to "see this amazing transformation," emphasizing the significant changes in the Greater Bay Area.
